Carn an t-Sagairt Mor day walk

The first mystery walk of this season, Sunday 10th November, saw 8 DHC members, James, Graeme Neish, Susan, Ruth, Steve, Ali, Gillie, Jane and two dogs meeting at the Keiloch carpark for a 9am start. It was a beautiful, cold, crisp and bright morning as we headed across the Invercauld Bridge and on up through the Ballochbuie forest.

The snow became deeper as we followed, and crossed, the Feindallacher burn...

...heading towards Carn an t-Sagairt Beag.

Steve did a great job of breaking the trail, ....

....much appreciated as the snow was mostly unconsolidated and in some places came over our knees!

The tops were bitterly cold so we made a quick lunch stop on the col between the two hills.

The going underfoot became easier on the summit plateau of Carn an t Sagairt Mor where we all enjoyed magnificent views across to the northern Cairngorms and down to the Dubh Loch.

We descended via a similar route and topped off the day with tea and fine pieces in the café at Crathie.
