Elphin, NW Sutherland Weekend
Some of us set off early from Deeside on Friday 20th hoping for some dry weather to climb our various hills on the way.
Robert was successful in climbing Bynack Mor, the most easterly Munro in the Cairngorms.
Graeme and his friend John abandoned their intended hill as they got soaked to their underwear!
Ali and Jane drove all the way up the A838 past Loch Shinn and climbed Beinn Leoid. It took another hour and a bit to drive round to the hut so they were very grateful to find the others had a fire going.
It was great to catch up with Tansy, Archie and Shona who spent Friday night with us.
Saturday was dry and brighter, showing off the stunning position of the caving club hut at Elphin.
Shona left early to bag 2 Corbetts on her way home.
Tansy and Archie explored the bone caves.
Robert had an excellent day on Ben More Assynt and Conival.
Graeme and John enjoyed a much better day climbing both Cul Mor and Cul Beag.
Moira, Ali and Jane made a leisurely ascent of Canisp and enjoyed stunning views and an extended picnic at the top.
All topped off with a delicious pot luck supper in the conservatory of the caving club hut.
Sunday was wet again so apart from a short walk to explore the cave entrances, we drove home.
