Pannanich day walk

After surveying the flood devastated Ballater campsite, the group of 7 (Sandy, Chris, Moira, Ali, Robert, Jane, Iain) parked at Bridge of Muick intending to practice our winter skills techniques. After passing the impressive Glenmuick House we climbed up onto the Pannanich ridge to find lots of soft snow which quickly put paid to Plan A. Instead we trekked along the ridge which was hard going in the deep soft snow.

Picture below shows the group sheltering from the cold wind for lunch stop no.1.

Despite the encouraging signs we managed to resist the temptation to continue onto Mount Keen. Probably best left for another expedition.

We found a handy shed for second lunch to shelter from the biting wind. Fortunately Iain was able to "unlock" the door from the inside after climbing through an open window.

A fine winter outing was finished off with tea and scones at the Crannach tearoom by Cambus O' May.
