Ballochbuie day walk

Sunday 12th January

Eight members (Gillie, Susan, Moira, Eileen, Jane, Bob, Peter and Iain) plus two dogs (Isla and Harris) braved sub-zero temperatures to complete the “Prince’s Loop” from Keiloch car park at Invercauld Estate.

Crossing the old bridge at Invercauld in blizzard conditions, we strided-out to the lovely bridge over the Glen Beg Burn and Garbh Alt as the sun broke through the clouds. However, blizzard conditions persisted on the tops, so we elected to circumnavigate Cnap a Choire Buidhe at relatively low level. This route took us on a land rover track to the quaint Connachat Cottage and associated memorial (to a Battenburg Prince). Return to Invercauld was along the south bank of the river Dee as the Garbh Alt footbridge was padlocked shut.

A short but lovely day out with great company in gorgeous scenery.

Iain
